Digital tax delay?

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has welcomed a report from the House of Commons Treasury Select Committee, which calls on the government to delay the implementation of mandatory digital tax reporting. In the report, the Committee states that the proposed timetable of April 2018 for most businesses to be reporting tax digitally is over ambitious, and could result in unnecessary costs and administrative burdens for businesses.

An Asda worker has been jailed for three years and four months after she stole more than 450,000 from the company's petrol kiosks. Wendy Clements, who worked in the cash office of a Middlesbrough branch, understated the amount of cash taken at the till and stole the difference.

Gantries removed

JTI has removed gantries from two stores, 6 till 11 in Ilford, and Micklefield Superstore in High Wycombe, after they were prosecuted for dealing in illegal tobacco and ordered to pay fines and costs totalling 3,245.
