Forecourt Trader - 30 years at the heart of the fuel retailing community

New Spar forecourt store celebrates opening with public launch

11 July, 2014

A new forecourt Spar store in Pontypridd, Mid Glamorgan, has celebrated its opening in style with a public launch event. The newly developed store, Spar Treforest, on the Esso-branded forecourt owned by MRH Retail, covers 1,000 sq ft and offers a new grocery and convenience range, including food to go and Costa coffee, set off with new fixtures, floor lighting and shelving. The store employs eight members of staff and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Store operator Tharmesh Paramsothynathan said: “We have completely redeveloped the site and have a fantastic new convenience range - perfect for top-up shoppers and those on the go. We have an off licence and offer PayPoint and Lottery services too.”

At the launch event last month, the Spar store laid on a free raffle draw with goody bags and handed out samples of Spar-branded products. A food hamper was also presented to representatives from Penrhos Residential Home.

Tharmesh commented: “I’m really glad that Penrhos Residential Home could join us for our opening event. I hope that the store will play a key role in serving the local community moving forward.”
