Firefighters took two hours to bring a petrol tanker fire under control on the M25 on Saturday August 8.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called along with Surrey Fire and Rescue to a petrol tanker that was well alight on the Clacket Lane services slip road just before 3.30 pm.
Crews used hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire which was isolated to the cab of the tanker.
The fuel load was unaffected by the fire, and crews used a water spray to cool it.
Police had to close the motorway in both directions between junctions five and six for several hours, and had to delay the reopening when they discovered frustrated drivers had turned their cars around and were travelling the wrong way along the carriageway on the hard shoulder.
