he Westmorland Family's managing director/finance director Laurence King beat off stiff competition from Peter Bellini, Clive Sheppard, David Penny, Sharad Raja, and Raj and Aziz Patel to be named Forecourt Trader's Retailer Champion. The special award was supported by the principal sponsor, Certas Energy, and was voted for by Forecourt Trader readers.

Laurence joined The Westmorland Family in 2008 with over 20 years' experience as a finance director and, more latterly, as a managing director for businesses including Baxi Partnership and Tetrad. Before this, he trained with and worked for KPMG.

His role today stretches across all the Westmorland businesses but Laurence has been particularly involved in all phases of the business' expansion to Gloucestershire, including the lengthy planning period, its construction and its opening. Gloucester Services was, of course, the star of Forecourt Trader's 2015 awards as it was the first motorway services ever to take the top accolade: Forecourt Trader of the Year.
