Palmer and Harvey has used its Pro-Retail show to unveil a new loyalty scheme which will enable customers to earn up to an extra £2,000 a year, and to reveal the winners of the Pro-retail Awards.

The loyalty scheme, called SIRCLE, focuses on core products and promotions that shop owners should be selling to achieve the best returns.

Retailers are rewarded based on their purchasing, gaining points for buying recommended products through Palmer and Harvey, implementing regular promotions to their customers and following store standards – with scope to earn around £2,000 a year.

Every three weeks, an independent auditor will visit stores on behalf of SIRCLE to check how top-selling products are being promoted, and suggest ways to maximise their potential. Gaps in stock will also be identified using live sales data, and if orders are placed for these missing products the retailers can still be rewarded. Current promotions will be measured and retailers notified of offers for the next period, which are pre-sold into the retailer ensuring that they are fully compliant.

At a gala evening at the show Palmer and Harvey announced the winners of the Pro-retail Awards.

Magor Services in Gwent was the winner of a new award, Forecourt of the Year. Peberday News in Syston, Leicestershire, was CTN Retailer of the Year, and the Convenience Retailer of the Year award was won by CDC Buying Group Clifton.

Hollins Green Community Store in Warrington won the Community Retailer of the Year award and the Retailer of the Year award went to Dean Holborn, of Holborn’s Convenience Stores.

Martyn Ward, managing director of Palmer and Harvey, said: “I am delighted to recognise these five significant contributions made to the industry by our very worthy winners. They have shown determination, innovation and outstanding initiative in an increasingly competitive industry as well as being leading examples of how stores can work to enrich their local community.”
