Speculation that Greenergy could about to be sold has been sparked by a report from business news outlet Bloomberg.

Quoting anonymous sources, it claimed Greenergy had hired ING Groep to advise it. The report also said that the process is at an early stage and the company may decide against a sale.

Greenergy said the article was based on hear-say and it would not be commenting on it.

Greenergy delivers directly to more than 650 forecourts in the UK, and its clients include Esso’s independent dealers, Nisa dealers and major supermarkets. It supplies other forecourts on an ex-rack basis and claims a 25% share of the UK market.

It is a privately owned company and for the year to April 14, 2015, it reported turnover of £14.1bn and pre-tax profits of £3.8m.
