Top 50 Indie AY&Y Patel has had the official opening of its flagship Lister Arms site in Bradford after a knock down re-build, attended by David Moss, general manager retail for Shell UK and PRA chairman Brian Madderson.

It now has a six square pump format with Shell standard and V-Power fuels at all islands. There are also separate, high-speed offset diesel pumps with AdBlue for HGVs and other commercial vehicles.

There is also a Spar store, which has been extended to 3,000sq ft, alongside a new Subway and Costa Coffee. Car parking is available in front of the shop and for longer stays at the rear too.

Chris Noble, dealer account manager, Shell UK Retail, commented: “One unique feature, which reflects its position in the Bradford community, is a dedicated prayer room which the directors are very proud to offer.”

Director Yakub Patel said the site was trading very well and the group was now turning its attention to its Wetherby Road site in Leeds where it has plans for a similar development.

He said they hoped to iron out one final planning condition so that work could start early in the new year.

AY&Y Patel was 28th in the most recent Top 50 Indies with 11 sites.
