product news: TV adverts support Walkers re-sealable packs

03 February, 2017

Walkers is supporting the launch of its new 175g re-sealable sharing packs with an eight-week TV campaign featuring brand ambassador Gary Lineker.

Launching on the 1st February, the TV creative will focus on the fans and the social occasion created by watching matches with family and friends.

The advert features people gathered together to watch a football match in a variety of locations, from the pub to a living room. Lineker features mid-way through as the ‘goal poacher’ when he tries to take someone else’s crisps.

The closing scene is of people at the pub opening and sharing their crisps as they prepare to watch the game. A Walkers United logo appears on screen and the voiceover ends with ‘Walkers, proud sponsors of the UEFA Champions League. Grab a new sharing pack to enjoy with your friends’.

John Savage, UK brand manager - Walkers Crisps at PepsiCo, comments: “We are excited to be able to introduce a playful TV advert to support the launch of our new re-sealable sharing packs. Watching a football match with friends or family is an ideal occasion for sharing snacks, so we wanted this to be the focus for our TV campaign.

“#WalkersUnited represents a new positioning for Walkers’ sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League, placing less emphasis on the superstars on the pitch and more on the fans watching the match at home.”
