Tektroniks has developed a small, easy-to-use, food temperature control system specifically for c-stores and forecourts.

The SAM Junior system uses temperature probes to provide 24-hour monitoring for chillers, freezers and hot-serve counters, and alerts retailers to any changes. Outside of trading hours an alarm can auto-dial the site manager's mobile phone if a problem is detected.

The automated system means that staff no longer have to carry out manual temperature checks. An internal printer produces daily status reports, which can be used to prove due diligence for health and safety records.

Kevin Sizer, sales manager at Tektroniks, says: "With the monitoring system in place you no longer have to worry about refrigeration breakdowns or lack of staff knowledge and you know temperature checks are being done. You can concentrate on other aspects of the business."

An eight-channel system - which monitors eight temperature points - can be installed for less than £2,000.
