In the first case of its kind in Northern Ireland, a Hollywood filling station owner has been fined £2,000 and ordered to pay compensation of £3,500 to a motorist under the Clean Air Act. Gavin Joseph Vallely of Craigantlet Filling Station was found guilty of two charges after a customer complained to trading standards about the quality of the diesel he had bought. When tested, samples of the fuel were found to have a sulphur content of 654 and 754mg per kg. The maximum figure permitted under British Standards for ultra low sulphur diesel fuel and environmental regulations is only 50mg per kg.
