Manor Service Stations, number 19 in the Forecourt Trader Top 50 Indies 2008 listing, has won the contract to run the two service stations at Manchester Airport. The two sites, at Terminals One and Two, will be run by the Macclesfield-based business for 10

years.

Both will continue to be supplied with fuel from BP, and Manor Service Stations intends to spend more than £100,000 on refurbishments. The main site at Terminal One will be converted into a BP Connect franchise.

Manor managing director Peter Brough, who is also currently chairman of the Petrol Retailers’ Association, said: "This is a significant contract for us and we are delighted to have been recognised as one of the leading operators in the country.

"We look forward to a successful relationship with Manchester Airport and, ultimately, to giving the highest quality service to those customers visiting these sites."

Manor won a fiercely contested race to run the sites, with bidders having to submit details of their objectives and their environmental policy.

Manor marketing director, Joe Brough, explained: "Our depth of experience was a key factor in us winning the bid. We have a proven record in the petrol retail industry and would put ourselves forward again for similar contracts where businesses operating service stations, but not as a core business, need expert knowledge and ability to maximise their efficiency."

Manor, which has been operating since 1972, has 12 sites in the north west.
