BOSS has appointed Peter Mellins, security manager for Total since 1997, as its new chairman.

“In the months ahead BOSS will reinforce its efforts to advise and support retail operators and local police forces with a view to reducing drive-offs, robberies, burglaries and payment fraud on UK service stations,” said Mellins.

“There are currently 70 Forecourt Watch schemes nationwide and our aim is to have schemes operating in every major UK city.”

Mellins added that successful Forecourt Watch schemes have demonstrated that by working in partnership, retailers and police forces have seen crime rates fall by more than 50%, and in some areas by up to 70%.
