Benny Cherian, a cashier at a Texaco site in Skippool, Poulton-le-Fylde in Lancashire, has a won a Mini for his efforts in promoting Texaco's loyalty card. As part of the launch of the brand's Star Rewards scheme, forecourt staff were encouraged to help customers sign up for a loyalty card. Twenty cashiers received £500 each, with Benny receiving the top prize of the car.

Star Rewards was relaunched last summer by Texaco's owner Chevron, replacing the WE.O.U. cards. The company says that since then it has seen a 5% increase in sales on its loyalty card.

Customers can redeem their 'stars' for free fuel vouchers, high street vouchers or donate them to the children's charity, Action for Children, with any donations matched by Chevron.
