Two men have been jailed for a total of seven years after a terrified woman cashier was forced to lock herself in a

storeroom during a raid at a Jet filling station in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Nicky Beaton (27) and Gary Tierney (29) went on a crime spree following the raid in August and were caught on CCTV as they used a cash card from the cashier’s stolen handbag to withdraw money at a Corby supermarket 30 minutes after the robbery.

One of the men jumped over the counter in the 7pm Jet raid and the cashier fled to the storeroom for safety. They got away with her handbag and £80 from the till.

Beaton, of Dorking Walk, Corby, and Tierney, of Sutherland Walk, Corby, admitted burglary at Protheroes filling station, together with theft, and robbery. Beaton was given a four-year jail sentence, while Tierney was jailed for three years.

Judge Richard Bray, sitting at Northampton Crown Court, said: "Cashiers are vulnerable at night and you must have known that."
