Kay Group, the South Yorkshire-based

Top 50 Indie, has opened its 10th Londis store. The new 3,000sq ft shop is on its Clitheroe site in Lancashire the biggest site in the company’s network.

The knock-down-rebuild is on a site acquired by the Kay Group in January. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides a full convenience offering, including an impressive range of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a variety of locally-sourced meat and dairy produce all within 23m of refrigeration.

There is also an off licence, fresh bakery items and hot coffee, the National Lottery, an ATM and washroom facilities. A Subway franchise has seating for 20 people. On the forecourt side, there are eight fuel positions, four jet washes, two vacuums and 20 parking spaces.

The forecourt’s modern design includes environmentally-friendly and cost-saving features. For example, there is a 30,000 litre rain water tank under the site. The water is used for the jet wash and the toilets.

Richard Cox, managing director of the Kay Group, said: "We are delighted with this new addition to our network of sites. The support and guidance from Londis has been absolutely fantastic." He has predicted that sales will soon reach the weekly target of £30,000 for the store and a run rate of 6mlpa for fuel.
