Spar UK has joined forces with shelving unit supplier CAEM in a bid to bring bottom-line savings in shelf-fitting costs to Spar retailers nationwide.

The partnership forms part of Spar’s Smart Savings scheme, which delivers centralised buying of products and services, so that a better deal can be provided to Spar retailers.

The deal with CAEM will allow Spar to offer a national price on shelving for its wholesalers, ensuring all Spar retailers can benefit from this nationwide deal.

CAEM had previously supplied shelving to three wholesalers AF Blakemore, Hendersons and Capper & Co but this will be the first regular business the company has carried out with the other wholesalers.

Nimbus Cottrell, business development manager at CAEM, said: "We are constantly looking to develop new ideas with our clients and have recently created red promotional bays for Spar, as well as special fruit and vegetable bays with banana hammocks."

Jon Bleeze, Spar store development controller, said retailers and stores across the country would benefit significantly from the national deal with CAEM. "We are always aiming to find improvements for our retailers with bulk buy cost savings if they purchased these items on an individual basis they would pay a bespoke manufacturing cost.
