Sales assistant winner

Kingsley Elliff from Suffolk-based AW & D Hammond was the winner of the Forecourt Sector in the Sales Assistant of the Year competition run by Forecourt Trader’s sister publication Convenience Store.

He was presented with his award at the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane, by celebrity presenter Cheryl Baker and Forecourt Trader editor Merril Boulton.

The rock music-loving sales assistant has worked for the Jet-branded site and Mace store for 18 months, during which time he has made his presence felt with his friendly and cheerful approach.

Fuel-saving measures

Hard-up motorists are desperate to save money on fuel but don’t even know how much it costs, a new survey has found.

Research for the Energy Saving Trust’s Fuel Your Passion campaign found almost three-quarters (71%) of drivers do not know the average price of a litre of unleaded but nine in 10 admit shopping around to find cheaper fuel.

In addition, 80% of car owners say they know following simple smarter driving tips could save them money but a stubborn 51% refuse to follow those tips because they are too set in their ways.

BP’s Deepwater penalty

BP has agreed with the US government to resolve all federal criminal charges and all claims by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against the company resulting from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon accident, oil spill, and response.
