Symonds Forecourt’s Wells store won the Best Forecourt Loo 2013 Award, which was announced at the exclusive Forecourt Trader Lunch at the Forecourt Show at the NEC in Birmingham this week.

Store manager Jason Tamplin was presented with a certificate and trophy by Forecourt Trader editor Merril Boulton and Chris Hayfield, managing director of RS Sales which sponsored the award. The prize also included a year’s supply of loo rolls and a Kindle.

The win follows success last year when Tamplin won the Store Manager of the Year category in the Forecourt Trader Awards and the Wells site scooped the prestigious Forecourt of the Year Award.

The Best Loo Award was decided on the number of ‘likes’ each loo won on Facebook. It was a close run thing with Wells securing 194 ‘likes’ compared with 182 for Bridgend Garage at Auchinleck in Ayrshire.

Other strong entries included: Forfar Road Service Station, Dundee; Sandyford Service Station, Co Dublin; Shell Sparkford, Somerset; and Tuddenhams Filling Station, Longtown, Cumbria.

Also at the lunch research specialist him! shared the results of its latest petrol retailing survey.

The Lunch followed the Forecourt Spotlight session in the Forecourt Live area of the show, where Merril Boulton hosted a panel of industry experts who discussed the latest developments in the market.

The panel comprised the PRA’s Brian Madderson, Experian Catalist’s Arthur Renshaw, Adam Wadlow and Amanda Barber, property specialists from Barber Wadlow, and Mark Lodge from Lloyds Banking Group.
