A man has been charged following a robbery at the Shell petrol station in South Normanton, Derbyshire.

Duane Langford, 34, from Sutton-in-Ashfield, has been charged with robbery and has appeared before magistrates in Chesterfield yesterday.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday, June 4.

Just after 2am on Sunday, May 19, police were called to the petrol station on Alfreton Road after a staff member reported a robbery.

The sales attendant reported that a man approached the kiosk at around 2am and demanded money. They refused and he left.

He returned a few minutes later carrying a black object and made further demands for cash, which was handed over by the staff member.

No one was injured during the incident.
