Problems resulting from the PPI (payment protection insurance) mis-selling scandal have been raised with an influential group of MPs by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA).
Officials from the NFDA have met with Jonathan Evans MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Insurance and Financial Services, to provide an overview of the problems facing franchised dealers arising from the behaviour of Claims Management Companies (CMCs).
The meeting was arranged following a number of complaints from NFDA members about CMCs and PPI claims to raise concerns and provide recommendations on what steps could be taken to tackle the issue.
NFDA director Sue Robinson commented: “The NFDA has been concerned for some time at the scale of PPI complaints from claims management companies, particularly where little research has been done to establish if the claim is valid.
“While extra measures have been introduced by Government which go some way to tackle the problems with the claims management companies there is still much that needs to be done.
“The NFDA will continue to lobby Government to review how these complaints are being handled alongside the activities of the claims management companies.”
