A Shropshire forecourt store has been re-launched after a £300,000 makeover that almost doubled its size.
The four-week renovation and expansion project has increased the size of Blakemore Retail’s Bishop’s Castle forecourt store from 1,500sq ft to 2,960sq ft.
The former Co-operative Group site, which was recently acquired by Blakemore and converted to Spar, has already seen significant increases in sales and footfall following the redevelopment.
The site provides customers with a modern convenience store offering, including fresh produce, fresh bread from the in-store bakery, food to go, fresh coffee, news and an off-licence.
To celebrate its reopening, Bishop’s Castle held a launch day which involved free tasters for customers and local children being invited to officially open the site.
The store has since continued to build on these links with the local community, having already been approached by a local primary school for support with a charity recipe book to raise funds for the school.
Area manager Nigel Bostock said: “Prior to its transformation, the Bishop’s Castle store was in a very poor state of repair. Now it has been fully refitted and the customer reaction has been fantastic.”
