A man addicted to sniffing and drinking petrol has been given a suspended prison sentence after twice breaching an ASBO banning him from petrol stations.

Brian Taylor, 45, from Redcar in North Yorkshire, was banned from petrol stations after attacking pumps, including cutting fuel lines, in order to get at the petrol.

Teesside Magistrates’ Court was told Taylor was spotted by staff at Morrisons on December 30 approaching the pumps in a bid to obtain petrol. The same day he also went to the Tesco petrol station in West Dyke Road. Police were called and he was arrested.

Taylor was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and told to pay £120 in costs and victim surcharge.
