The most prestigious and respected awards in the UK’s petrol retailing calendar are back for 2021.

As we look forward to more positive times ahead, the Forecourt Trader team is ready to seek out the brightest and best in the industry - those pushing the boundaries of hard work and innovation as they embrace the immense challenges of running a successful business.

There are many categories for everyone to enter, covering all types of forecourt operations, from rural to motorway sites, plus many specialist categories. And this year we have introduced a new, additional specialist category – Best Alternative Fuels Outlet.

To win an award, your site doesn’t have to be the newest or the biggest – it’s about being the best in the category. It’s also about giving your staff the chance to earn the recognition they deserve.

This is your chance to put your forecourt operation in the spotlight. Could your site be a winner this year? Follow the link here and start working on your entry. The deadline is Monday May 10, 2021.

Judging Process

The judging team is chaired by Forecourt Trader editor Merril Boulton, and includes experts from the industry including experienced forecourt retailers.

The process involves looking at all the entries, which are presented anonymously. This round relies predominantly on the photographs you have sent in – so make sure they show off your forecourt and facilities to their best advantage – in combination with your written entries. Separate marks are awarded for the forecourt and the shop, then added together to create an overall score.

On-the-Road judging

Shortlists for each region and specialist category are drawn up, and judges then take to the road travelling thousands of miles around the UK to visit the top-scoring sites. Welcoming and well-maintained facilities, cleanliness, tidiness, a well-stocked and merchandised store, and friendly and helpful staff are key elements for consideration at this stage and adherence to the criteria for the specialist categories.

There will be three finalists in each of the specialist and regional categories.

The Forecourt Trader of the Year is chosen from the winners of the regional and motorway categories.

The judging process starts in June and will be completed by early August, with all finalists being announced shortly afterwards.

All finalists will feature in Forecourt Trader, on forecourttrader.co.uk and on forecourttraderawards.co.uk for all to see.
