product news: Metcalfe’s skinny launches Popcorn Crisps

21 August, 2015

Metcalfe’s skinny has launched a Popcorn Crisps range, which are gluten free and have up to 35% less fat than the average tortilla chip.

Unlike traditional deep-fat frying methods, Metcalfe’s skinny Popcorn Crisps are created through a flash-griddled process. The kernels, oil and salt are dropped into triangular-shaped moulds; with the right pressure, temperature and moisture they pop to become Popcorn Crisps.

They come in three flavours: Kettle Original which combines notes of melted butter, black pepper and lemon; Sweet Chilli with a chilli and tomato flavor; and Say Cheese with a rich cheddar cheese and paprika flavour.

Max Rees, managing director of Metcalfe's Food Company, explained: "We are enormously proud to be bringing Popcorn Crisps to our customers. The Metcalfe's skinny brand has grown enormously in the past couple of years so this is an extremely exciting time for the brand to be extending our innovative product range. Our aim is to deliver the most innovative, best quality and tasting, light, corn-based snack products in the market.”
