Assistant attacked at Hythe service station

Witnesses are being sought following a report of an attack on a member of staff and a robbery at a service station in Hythe.

Kent Police is investigating the incident in which the victim, a man aged in his 50s, was working in a petrol station in Seabrook Road when two men entered the shop and one demanded money from the till.

The shop assistant refused and following an altercation he was assaulted and suffered bruising to his head. The incident took place at 12.40am on Thursday 28 April.

Investigating officer detective sergeant Stephanie Devon said: “A 26-year-old man from Hythe has been arrested and remains in custody.

“Enquiries are on-going to locate a suspect, who is described as a white man aged between 20 and 30 years old, around 5ft 8ins tall with a lean build. He was reportedly wearing a black top and had mousey brown hair.
