Phillips 66 sponsors Royal Albert Hall concert

06 May, 2016

Phillips 66 is sponsoring a high-profile children’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The ‘AC Academy Does the Royal Albert Hall’ on 14 June is a ground-breaking concert, which is being organised by Warwickshire-based music and education charity Armonico Consort in partnership with the Royal Albert Hall.

It will involve almost 2,000 children from mainstream and special needs schools uniting to perform on stage.

Phillips 66 is a long-term supporter of Armonico Consort, which aims is to nurture a love of singing and performance in young people who might otherwise not be exposed to performing arts.

Mary Wolf, managing director, UK & Ireland Marketing for Phillips 66, commented: “This is a really exciting event for us to be involved with. The schoolchildren will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at a professional, world-class musical event, which aims to break down social barriers and stigma, encourage inclusion and build confidence and self-esteem.

“Music plays such a vital role in children’s development, particularly in children with special needs, so we can’t praise the work that Armonico Consort does highly enough. We can’t wait to take our seats in the Royal Albert Hall for this musical extravaganza”

As part of the event a choir made up of 25 Phillips 66 employees will be taking to the stage to perform a medley of songs from the musical Jersey Boys in front of an audience of over 1,500.

Christopher Monks, artistic director of Armonico Consort, commented: “We are truly grateful for the support from Phillips 66 in turning our dreams for this concert into reality. We work tirelessly to deliver life-changing musical experiences to thousands of children and young people across the UK each year, many of whom face complex challenges. By sponsoring this concert, Phillips 66 will make a huge difference to its success and to the happiness and wellbeing of 2,000 children, their families and the wider communities they come from.”
