03 August, 2016

A customer had to be treated in hospital after a car smashed into a forecourt shop at Halesowen in the West Midlands.

The crash happened just after 11am on August 2 at the Balmoral Service Station on Bromsgrove Road.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: “A male in his 20s was in the shop at the time of the crash and he was treated for back pain and remained conscious.”

He was taken to Dudley’s Russells Hall Hospital to be treated for back pain.

Eight firefighters also attended the scene.

A service station employee told the Express & Star he had a lucky escape as he was filling up the freezer by the door when a Range Rover crashed through the door.

“A man next to me was injured and we called for the paramedics,” said the worker, who asked to remain anonymous.

“He was taken away on a stretcher with back and shoulder pain. I wasn't injured. The driver was in shock but not injured.”

The services was briefly closed while emergency services were at the scene but reopened shortly afterwards.
