Forecourt Trader - 30 years at the heart of the fuel retailing community
Booths to open Texaco forecourt
Published:  25 November, 2016

A major food and drink retailer in the North West, Booths, is to add a new build Texaco-branded forecourt to its shop in Ormskirk, Lancashire, early in 2017.

Its site in Ormskirk is built on the former World War II naval air station, HMS Ringtail, and has been built to resemble an aircraft hangar.

John Vandermeer, company secretary at Booths, said: “When we made the decision to expand Booths Burscough to include a fuel retail outlet, we looked for a supplier that could offer not just a strong brand, but also excellent service and security of supply. Valero fitted the bill and we had no hesitation signing with them.”

Andrew Cox, Valero’s director sales and marketing, added: “Valero is delighted to be working with a highly innovative retailer such as Booths. Its site is one of a number of new build sites Valero is supplying this year and we’re excited to be part of this new retailing trend.”

The site will be supplied by Valero’s Manchester Terminal, which receives supply directly from its refinery in Pembroke, South Wales.

Booths owns 28 up-market supermarkets in the north of England and has been described by the Daily Telegraph as “the Waitrose of the North”.

When a major car manufacturer like Ford predicts that sales of its electrified cars will outnumber petrol and diesel models by 2022, does that ring alarm bells about the possible speed of change for forecourts?
