Co-op redevelopment

Lincolnshire Co-op has revealed plans for an £850,000 redevelopment of its Gibbet Nook Filling Station, on the junction of the A153 and B1192 near Coningsby.

The first phase sees the site closed until Friday June 9 while underground works are carried out to replace pipes and tanks, and new pumps are installed, with further plans for a 1,200sq ft convenience store to replace the current shop.

topaz rolls out miles fuel brand

Irish forecourt operator Topaz is investing 6m in the roll-out of a new premium fuel brand, Miles, across its network of 430 service stations in Ireland. Miles is the fuel brand owned by Canadian group Alimentation Couche-Tard, which acquired Topaz in February 2016. The 6m covers investment in new pumps and forecourt renovation and branding, as well as advertising and marketing costs.

electric vehicle energy problem

The UK's energy system isn't prepared for the growing number of consumers choosing to buy small-scale energy technologies such as electric vehicles (EVs), according to a new report by think tank Green Alliance. It warns that without change, just six electric cars charging in close proximity at peak time could overload the grid and disrupt the local power supply.

Police in Hull have warned drivers to check their bank accounts after a suspected card cloning device was found at a pay-at-pump machine on an Asda forecourt. The device was found at the pay-at-pump machine on pump 10 at Asda Kingswood on Thursday April 13.

hot tapping conviction

The first conviction in Wales for hot tapping where criminals break into oil pipelines has been made following an incident in Pembrokeshire where 2,000 litres of diesel were stolen. Iulian Neacsu, aged 21, received a 21-month sentence for damage to and theft from the pipeline. Nicolae Petre, aged 36 and Constantin Dumitrescu, aged 31, both received nine-month sentences for going equipped to steal.
