He’s probably Britain’s oldest workaholic! At the age of 80, Lew Branston is still expanding his hugely successful forecourt – and he wants a posse of ‘Dad’s Army’ labourers to help him.
“There’s no substitute for experience” says Lew, who’s placed a job advert looking for workers with ‘a maximum age limit of 90 years’. Lew is prepared to pay a rate of £9 per hour to former builders, electricians, plumbers and carpenters to expand his filling station and convenience store in the Leicestershire village of Queniborough.“I can’t stop working,” says Lew. “I know so many people who have retired and are bored stiff.”

Following the response by Sainsbury's and Asda to the CMA's damning provisional findings on their proposed merger, do you agree with the PRA's assessment that their proposed solutions to the concerns could result in hundreds of forecourt closures?
