A new Budgens store has opened in Box, Wiltshire on an Esso forecourt on the outskirts of the village.
The 2,000 sq ft Budgens is twice the size of the previous store. "It's been 13 years since it was refitted," said site manager Paul Trevor. "We believe Budgens has the right image for this area."The site was bought 19 years ago by Paul Miller. Paul Trevor and his wife have run it for the past 10 years.Paul now describes the busy Esso site, which sells 100,000 litres of fuel a week, as "a proper supermarket - bigger and better than it was before" with a healthy range of fresh produce and a large, 300sq ft section for alcohol, much of it chilled.Customers can now easily stop off (the car park takes at least 10 cars) and buy everything from flowers and cards to chilled wine, or select from a wide range of fresh produce, fresh meat, extensive dairy and frozen goods, news and magazines and ready meals. There's also a new 'good to go' section where customers can grab a coffee and sandwich 'on the go'. Bake-off adds to the offering which is supplemented by the popular local Munchies range of soft rolls and crusty baguettes. And there's entertainment available too in the form of DVDs and Wii Ninendo computer games. Plus customers are able to pay their utility bills at the store, top up their mobiles and use the free ATM. "This is a beautiful area that deserves a beautiful store," said Paul. The store opens every day till 10.30pm - from 6.30am Monday to Friday, and a bit later at weekends.
