Nearly 300 forecourts have closed in the past six months, according to the latest figures from Catalist UK, the service station data specialist. In our last Fuel Market Review (see June issue) there were 10,867 UK sites.

The latest data shows 10,577. The biggest loss is in the oil company-owned sector, where 168 sites have disappeared bringing their site count down to 2,879. Dealer sites now account for 6,569 outlets, having lost a further 147 sites. Supermarkets sites have grown by 25 to 1,129.
