Software firm CV Retail is targeting UK forecourt operators with its online accountancy service CounterBooks. The company says it aims to give retailers an 'up-to-the-minute overview of the whole business' by not just looking at the profit margins on sales but the overall profitability of the business.

According to CV Retail managing director John Roberts, information can be exported from an epos system to CounterBooks.

He said: "Data is imported at sales category level and not per item. This allows retailers to see a broad overview of their performance in the various sales categories and see estimates of stock based on target profit margins for each category."

Roberts said about 650 forecourts have signed up to use the software, including about 150 independents, since it launched in the UK in 2007.
