Patrick Sewell and David Craven-Jones won the overall Neighbourhood sites award 2009 for Sewell Chanterlands in the heart of densely populated Hull, East Yorkshire which led to them becoming the Forecourt Trader of the Year 2009 winners. The superb 24-hour site has been designed with wide aisles for customers with prams or wheelchairs, and there is a loyalty card scheme which extends to all Sewell sites. The hot drinks section with seating area is very popular, especially with police who stop by to get free tea or coffee which Patrick says also helps to keep crime down at the site.

Patrick adds: "We are a local company; we invest in and play a large part in the local community. For example, we are just starting a new venture with the local school to help alleviate traffic congestion. Our 'park 'n' stride' scheme means mums and dads can park at our store en route to dropping their children at school." Also winners of Best Independent with 10 sites or More, Best Site with a Licence to Sell Alcohol and Best Car Care and Lubricants.
