Payment and loyalty solutions provider HTEC is celebrating three decades in business.

According to the company, it processed the first live Chip & PIN transaction on an unattended OPT (outdoor payment terminal) in the UK. The transaction was carried out at 14:58 on Tuesday July 19, 2005 on an HTEC HydraOPT.

HTEC said that £8bn-worth of payment transactions per annum are processed on its equipment and 3,500 UK petrol stations use its solutions.

It said the secrets of its success included responding to customer and market needs; high quality products; and quality vendor partners.
