The shirt off your back

Jet has launched a football shirt amnesty at 17 sites to encourage customers to give up their old shirts for charity. The Dig Out, Drop Off, Donate initiative aims to latch on to UK World Cup fever. The shirts will be donated to VSO and distributed to local projects in South Africa. Richard Harris, owner of Jet's Honiton forecourt one of the sites taking part said: "We thought sending over these football shirts would be a great way of making the people of South Africa feel involved and celebrate their status as host nation."

Access signs Euro deal

Euro Garages has opted to use the Access SelectPay solution to manage its payroll. Software solutions provider Access said the Lancashire-based Top Indies retailer, whose director Mohsin Issa is pictured above, had been searching for an alternative system that would simplify its payroll needs and provide better control and visibility of information.

Life in the slow lane

The soaring cost of fuel is causing motorists to drive more slowly, according to a new survey by car supermarket giant Motorpoint. A recent poll on its website revealed that 69% of motorists have changed their driving habits radically since fuel topped an average of 1.20 a litre for unleaded petrol. Only 31% had not altered their behaviour. Motorpoint managing director David Shelton said filling a car now cost 25 more a month than it did at the start of 2010 and urged the new government not to raise fuel duty in the upcoming emergency budget.
