Coffee Nation machines rebranded in Costa roll-out

26 May, 2011

New rebranded Costa Express machines will start rolling out across the UK from June 1 following the acquisition of Coffee Nation by Costa owner Whitbread earlier this year.  The rebranding exercise will

increase the amount of Costa machines from 900 to 3,000 in the next five years throughout the UK across various industries, including forecourts. Five sites are currently being trialled in partnership with Esso, Moto and Tesco ahead of the nationwide roll out.

Costa’s popular range of coffee products will be available via a self-serve format where customers want to grab their coffee ‘on the go’.  Both chip and pin and ‘pay at till’ versions of the Costa Express machines will be available to suit these locations. The company claims the new concept will make high street quality Costa coffee available in a quick and convenient format and challenges traditional perceptions of vending.

Coffee Nation chief executive, Scott Martin said:

“Coffee Nation revolutionised the coffee-on-the-go sector. We created a niche market for self-serve gourmet coffee bars through investment in technology and a passion for great coffee.  With the backing of Costa, we see a huge opportunity to take advantage of rising consumer expectations and to capitalise on the incremental revenue opportunity that unmanned coffee bars present.”
