BP honours Graham

Graham Peacock, chief executive of the UK's biggest independent fuel retailer MRH, was awarded the Long Service and Loyalty award at the recent BP dealer convention in Athens, Greece. The award was also presented to Bob and Adela Rottner (Three Springs, East End and Whittingham Road Service Station); and Lynwen and Ifor Jenkins (Tymawr and Rheidol Filling Sation).

Keyfuels grows

Fuel card and fuel management solutions provider Keyfuels has increased its network by more than 50% in the past few years. Keyfuels, which manages billions of litres of fuel each year for some of Europe's largest fleets, has the largest wholesale-priced network in the UK with more than 1,500 sites.

Electric van pilot

A consortium comprising Irish forecourt and convenience operator Topaz, internet specialist Eircom and The Ecology Foundation has launched a pilot project to test the viability of electric vans in a working fleet environment. The study will gauge the performance of the electric vans under a variety of criteria.

Fuelled by pies

Fuel supplier Greenergy has begun producing biodiesel from food waste. In a partnership with Brocklesby, a specialist in recycling edible oils, unsaleable food products such as crisps and pies, which would previously have gone to landfill or compost, are now being converted for biofuel and energy production.

Sewell training success

On-site training for young employees is proving a big success for Top 50 Indie Sewell Retail. Abi Seekings, aged 20, who works at the Chanterlands site, has just completed a Level Two Retail Skills apprenticeship with Sewell Retail and East Riding College.
