Jet names inaugural Sales Assistant of the Year

27 February, 2012

Val Taylor, 72, of Crosspool Service Station in Sheffield has won Jet’s first-ever award for Sales Assistant of the Year.

This new initiative aims to reward members of staff for their customer service skills at Jet’s network of around 380 independently operated sites.

Nominees were put forward by their dealers and regional managers, and the final decision was made by a panel of ConocoPhillips judges based on levels of customer service.

The manager of Crosspool Service Station, Stella Lucas, said: “Val is an absolute pleasure to work with; she has the patience of a saint and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to helping our customers.

“She contacts the local garage if customers have car problems and offers helpful directions if anyone is lost. Val takes the greatest pride in her work by arriving early and keeping the forecourt clean, plus she is always dressed immaculately.”

Val said: “It’s very rewarding to be recognised after working in the forecourt industry for nearly 20 years so I am very grateful to Jet. The customer always comes first in my job and being friendly and polite costs nothing.”

Guy Pulham, manager of regional sales at Jet, added: “At 72 years young, Val sets a great example by doing such a great job and we’re extremely pleased to have her in the network. Jet dealers pride themselves on providing high levels of customer service so we’re delighted to see Val going above and beyond the call of duty for the customer.”
