Forecourt Trader - 30 years at the heart of the fuel retailing community

The Sun girls help distribute TPA’s fuel tax signs

22 August, 2012

Symonds Forecourts’ site in Bristol was one of four Top 50 Indie forecourts to provide a location for The Sun newspaper’s photo shoot to publicise the Petrol Retailers’ Association and TaxPayers’ Alliance’s (TPA) new campaign highlighting the true cost of fuel duty.

Page 3 girl Poppy – pictured* with Nick Lloyd (centre), managing director of Symonds Forecourts, and the site’s manager Les Banner – held up the TPA’s new ‘fuel tax stands’, which show motorists that 60% of the money they pay to fill up their cars goes straight to the Treasury.

A MRH site in South London, a forecourt in Birmingham run by HKS, and a Manor Service Stations site in Cheshire all saw Page 3 girls help put up the fuel tax signs.

“Poppy was a very charming girl,” said Nick. “The PRA has done a fantastic job with the TaxPayers’ Alliance to highlight where motorists’ money goes. The campaign is raising awareness of the huge level of fuel tax because there’s a huge misconception out there.”
