25 April, 2013

A lone female assistant had a gun pointed at her and was threatened during an armed robbery at Hatton Service Station in Uttoxeter Road, Derby.

The woman was left shaken but unhurt after a masked man entered the Esso service station in during a night-time raid on Thursday April 18

The manager of the service station said his staff member was unhurt but “very, very shaken” by the incident. The intruder escaped with cash from the till.

He said the man walked into the shop at 10pm on Thursday night with a scarf over his face and pointed a handgun at the assistant.

After taking money the man ran out of the shop to a car that was waiting nearby.

He said: “A passer-by saw him and took a note of the registration number of the car which sped off down Station Road and then turned back on itself and drove off up Malthouse Lane.

As soon as the man left the shop, the assistant said she pressed a panic alarm at the filling station and then dialled 999. Police sealed off the garage and dusted for fingerprints.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to call them on 101 or to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
