Armed robbery in Essex

24 July, 2013

Essex Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at a petrol station in Laindon.

The robbery was carried out by two masked men who entered the BP petrol station at the Fortune of War, Arterial Road, in Laindon, at 6.30am on Monday July 22.

One was armed with a knife and the other was carrying a black bin bag.

A male customer was pushed out of the way by one of the men, who then approached the cash desk and threatened two male members of staff.

The cashiers fled out the back of the shop and the men grabbed cigarettes from behind the counter, before making off on foot towards Laindon.

They are described as white and in their 20s. Both were wearing balaclavas.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Basildon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
