Asda "cuts" prices to October 30 level

18 December, 2013

Asda and Tesco have both claimed to have made cuts to their fuel prices today, although Asda’s petrol price is identical to the one it set on October 30 and diesel is 1ppl dearer.

From today Asda’s national maximum petrol price is 126.7ppl, and on diesel it is 134.7ppl, compared with 133.7ppl on October 30.

Meanwhile Tesco announced that it was cutting up to 2ppl off petrol and 1ppl off diesel.

Asda petrol trading director Andy Peake said: “With Christmas just around the corner, and finances tighter than ever, we’re pleased we can do our bit to make our customers’ hard-earned cash go a little further.

“We’re putting money back in their pockets regardless of where they fill up. Other scrooge retailers should share the Christmas spirit and follow our lead.”
