Cigarettes stolen in Shropshire forecourt burglary

14 March, 2014

Cigarettes were targeted by burglars who broke into a Shropshire garage overnight through the roof.

The break-in was discovered this morning when staff arrived at the Shell garage in Sutton Maddock, near Shifnal.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the offenders on the roof top or spotted other suspicious activity in the area.

Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy said: “We believe the burglary took place at some point between midnight and 4am.

“If anyone saw people acting suspiciously at or in the vicinity of the premises, or perhaps a vehicle parked up nearby, do contact Shrewsbury CID on 101.

“We would welcome any information which might be related to this incident, or indeed, about those responsible.”

Checks are still being made to establish the quantity of cigarettes stolen and to see if anything else was taken.
