Diesel thieves flee crime scene

Thieves who attempted to steal diesel from underground storage tanks at a service station in Great Horkesley, Colchester, Essex, fled after being disturbed.

Essex Police have just released details about the incident that took place at the Gulf-branded Great Horkesley Garage on August 9.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Suspects were disturbed while trying to steal diesel from the underground storage tanks at the petrol garage at The Causeway around 1am in the morning.

“Police have recovered a white Ford Transit from the scene and enquiries are on-going.”

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact PC Karen Mortimer at Colchester Police Station on 101.

The spokesman added: “Owners of fuel tanks are reminded to consider crime prevention measures to protect their property.”
