Jet tankers promote Road Safety Week

19 November, 2014

Jet is helping to raise road safety awareness by rebranding four of its tankers for the duration of Road Safety Week (17 – 23rd November).

Set up in 1997, Road Safety Week is coordinated annually by national charity Brake each November. Now the UK's biggest road safety event, it aims to encourage grassroots action on road safety and raise awareness about the part we can all play in preventing tragedies and making roads safer.

The tankers will visit approximately 100 Jet forecourts in the fuel brand’s core delivery areas – the South East, the Midlands, the Yorkshire/Humberside area and Scotland.

To bring the campaign to life, and engage with the public, Jet has adopted a rubber duck mascot, Dudley, who can be seen bobbing around ‘inside’ the tanker on the graphic. The mascot will also feature on Jet’s social media channels, in forecourt giveaways and in other materials.

Customers will be encouraged to spot the tankers and a daily blog will share which area the tankers will be visiting, as well as road safety messages. In an online competition Jet will give away a car safety kit (warning triangle, torch, thermal blanket, tow rope) to one consumer each day of the campaign.

Pete George, managing director of Phillips 66 UK & Ireland Marketing, commented: “We know that our distinctive Jet tanker fleet is a significant contributor to Jet’s brand awareness so we felt that that branding some of our tankers with special Safety Week messages is a great way to show our commitment to road safety and our support of Brake’s fantastic initiative.

“Our dealers will also benefit as they will be able to request the branded tankers as part of their fuel ordering process and we will be organising PR opportunities with local media in each region during the week.

“As a company we are committed to consistently looking at ways to minimise risks and ensure the safety and well-being of our customers, drivers and staff. Road Safety Week provides a great opportunity to do this in a way that is fun but also gets across a serious message.”
