Armed robber strikes at Murco site near Falkirk
Published:  18 February, 2015

Scottish Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a petrol station near Falkirk.

The robbery occurred at around 9.45pm on Friday February 13, when a man entered the Murco garage in Bowhouse, Maddiston, threatened staff with a weapon and demanded money. He made off with a number of items.

Police are appealing for assistance in tracing the suspect, who is described as 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, stocky build and with a Falkirk accent. He was wearing a grey camouflage jacket, dark trousers, dark trainers with white soles, black three-hole balaclava and black gloves.

Detective sergeant John Burgoyne said: “Although no-one was harmed during this robbery, it was still upsetting for those who witnessed it.

“It is essential that we trace this man as soon as possible. Anyone who has information, or recognises the description of the man, is asked to contact Police Scotland immediately.”

Chief inspector Mandy Paterson said: “I would like to reassure the community that we have a dedicated enquiry team who are investigating and there will be high visibility police patrols in the area to offer reassurance to the public.”
