Petrogas UK leases Castleford forecourt

13 May, 2015

Top 50 Indie Petrogas UK has leased a former Shell service station near Castleford from Colliers International’s Automotive and Roadside team, acting on behalf of a private landlord.

Located in Glasshoughton, 11 miles south-east of Leeds, the site extends to 0.35 acres and includes a petrol filling station with three raised concrete fuel islands, an ancillary retail unit, and car wash. Petrogas has leased the site for a term of 15 years.

David Myers of Colliers International commented: “We are pleased to have been able to secure a new operator for this key petrol filling station site in Glasshoughton. All parties worked pragmatically to ensure that the site did not close following the end of Shell’s lease in April 2015. Petrogas proved to be a good fit as the site complements their existing network across the UK.”

Petrogas UK was ranked fifth in the latest Forecourt Trader Top 50 Indies with 54 sites and said it was planning to expand its network of Applegreen-branded sites.

When a major car manufacturer like Ford predicts that sales of its electrified cars will outnumber petrol and diesel models by 2022, does that ring alarm bells about the possible speed of change for forecourts?
