UKPIA launches energy manifesto ahead of general election

The UK Petroleum Industry Association (UKPIA) has launched an energy manifesto ahead of the December general election, calling on the next government to take the actions needed to strengthen the UK’s downstream oil sector while supporting the industry’s evolution to contribute to ‘Net Zero’ carbon emissions goals by 2050.

Chris Hunt: UKPIA director general

Well, here we go again! The Prime Minister has fired the starting gun for a General Election, the sound of which has startled many people. It would seem that we have had an overabundance of politics over the past 18 months, what with the Labour party trying to sort itself out, the whole Brexit campaign resulting in the previous Prime Minister, David Cameron, resigning in July 2016 and Theresa May stepping up to the plate. There have also been local government elections and the US Presidential race that seemed to go on forever, all of which has resulted in endless media coverage and comment no wonder we are suffering from 'political brain fade'!

Money Talk: Budget 2015 (the March one)

It was always likely to be a strange Budget coming as it did just seven weeks before the General Election which looks highly likely to end without any clear winning majority. The Chancellor had to stand up and deliver a Budget that somehow appealed to his existing voters but didn't scare off those who might be thinking of joining them on May 7; and do so in the knowledge that he might not be in a position to put his announced measures into practice after that date.
