The UK’s used car market increased by 0.9% in the third quarter of this year after nine straight quarters of decline, according to the latest figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Sales of alternatively fuelled cars grow despite market decline

UK new car market struggles while Europe thrives

The UK new car market was up marginally last month, but this was not enough to offset the overall decline this year which leaves 2019 down by 2.5% compared with the same nine months in 2018.

Diesel decline continues to depress new car sales

The UK new car market declined for the fifth consecutive month in July, with 157,198 vehicles leaving showrooms, according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Car makers report 15.2% decline in output in first half of 2019

British car manufacturing output fell by more than a fifth in the first half of 2019, with a 15.2% decline in June marking the 13th consecutive month of negative growth, according to figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
